Earnings Report

I put a tip jar on my desk at my temp job. So far I have earned $1.02. A dollar and two dirty pennies. Is this what Starbucks employees feel like?

Do Starbucks employees dream? I hope so. There has to be more than politely taking coffee orders and gently handing hot paper cups to people. I hope Starbucks employees have many dreams and wake up with a list of goals to help them along to a fun and satisfying future. They must. They always seem so content. And they also have excellent musical selection. Do you work for Starbucks? Tell me about your dreams.

Happy August, Everyone!

Well it's that time of year again. August. 'Tis the season to get depressed that the summer is almost over. August is a bitter sweet time of year full of squeezing everything you've been trying to do all summer into a few short weeks of high humidity, rising tension, and movie blockbusters that the studios didn't have the guts to release in the end-of-June to mid-July period.

there are many August traditions such as burning up your paid sick leave days, promising yourself that "yes, you can achieve you summer fitness goals in 14 days," forcing yourself to go to barbeques that you don't want to go but you figure you have to because it's summer time, and realizing just how much you don't want to go back to school (which is good because you graduated 8 years ago).

August is also a joyful time. Many French and Canadians have vacations in August.
