Happy August, Everyone!
Well it's that time of year again. August. 'Tis the season to get depressed that the summer is almost over. August is a bitter sweet time of year full of squeezing everything you've been trying to do all summer into a few short weeks of high humidity, rising tension, and movie blockbusters that the studios didn't have the guts to release in the end-of-June to mid-July period.
there are many August traditions such as burning up your paid sick leave days, promising yourself that "yes, you can achieve you summer fitness goals in 14 days," forcing yourself to go to barbeques that you don't want to go but you figure you have to because it's summer time, and realizing just how much you don't want to go back to school (which is good because you graduated 8 years ago).
August is also a joyful time. Many French and Canadians have vacations in August.

Here in Alberta, today we have "Heritage Day". What does Heritage Day mean to me?
A non-statutory holiday that can be ignored by employers if they choose where we celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of white Anglo-Saxon individuals and a small smattering of Native Canadian's in the outskirts with teepees and stuff.
Now where is the next BBQ?
